The kraft paper on one side of faced insulation keeps moisture from spreading throughout the walls or ceiling. This barrier is meant to keep moisture from getting to the insulation in the walls and ceilings and it is required by building codes when insulating most houses. Faced insulation is a little but not a lot more expensive than unfaced simply because of the extra material it includes.
