In the last few months i ve spent most of my time creating materials with substance designer.
I built it a lot like a real thatched roof first creating strands of straw before grouping them together into bundles and finally laying these bundles across the roof.
Tried a new workflow for me this time started with generating base maps in materialize then editing further in substance painter and photoshop and finally blending some moss and adding some more details and adjustments in quixel mixer.
We are not going to create a finished material because that would take hours but rather only look.
